Jenny Cooper
Registered Psychologist
As a registered psychologist, I have spent over twenty years working with a diverse range of people and aim to create a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate space where clients can share their thoughts and feelings without fear of being criticised or misunderstood.
Over the years I have worked in various settings including NZ defence, the justice sector, management consulting, local government and most recently with an NGO in the addictions and mental health field. My work has involved training, coaching, psychological assessments, one-to-one counselling, and group psychotherapy.
While the settings and context have varied, the central focus has always been working with individuals to help them meet their objectives, develop their strengths, and enhance their well-being. I have worked with people from a range of backgrounds with varying issues including anxiety, depression, stress, grief, past trauma, career transition, addiction, and Interpersonal challenges.
Trained in various therapeutic models and techniques over the years, I endorse a holistic view and incorporate acceptance, mindfulness, personal values, and behaviour change into my practice. My focus is to help clients build resilience, develop coping strategies, increase self-awareness, and cultivate a greater sense of well-being and inner peace.
As well as private practice, I work part-time as a Health Improvement Practitioner, based in a General Practice setting. This role focuses on brief interventions and practical solutions, for people of all ages seeking to improve quality of life.
Please note in private practice I work with individual adults aged 18 and over.
